Deferment Policy

Your request for a deferment of commencement or temporary suspension of study will only be granted on the grounds of compassionate or compelling circumstances. Compelling circumstances are generally those beyond the control of yourself and which have an impact upon the your course progress or wellbeing. These circumstances may include, but are not limited to:
- serious illness or injury, where a medical certificate states that you were unable to attend classes
- bereavement of close family members such as parents or grandparents (death certificates must be provided)
- a traumatic experience, such as involvement in or witnessing of a serious accident or witnessing or being the victim of a serious crime, which has left an impact on you (these cases should be supported by police or psychologists’ reports)
- inability to begin studying on the course commencement date due to delay in receiving a student visa, or
- family circumstances requiring your presence
- You are required to provide documentary evidence of the compassionate or compelling circumstances when submitting your request

Mionab will:
- inform you that deferring enrolment may affect your student visa (international students),
- assess each request on its own merit,
- notify you in writing within 10 working days of receiving the request of the decision made by the Institute,
- keep records of all requests, considerations and decisions on your file, and

in cases where requests are granted (international students)
- determine the new date for commencement / recommencement of studies on a case by case basis -where appropriate, a new Confirmation of Enrollment will be created,
- notify the Secretary of DEEWR via PRISMS as required under section 19 of the ESOS Act.
- The deferment can only be granted if the balance of fees are paid in full (fee for service contracts only).
- You can defer up to one calendar year. After the expiration of the calendar year if you are unable to return you must withdraw from the course and the refund policy will apply.
- If you do not recommence the course on or about the date agreed and one years is past, is deemed to be withdrawn by the Institute and he must re – apply. In this event, recognition of prior learning might apply for the units passed. In this event the fees are not refundable.
- In cases where you are not satisfied with the outcome of your request you have the right to access Mionab appeals policy.
Different policy might apply for you undertaking courses under a contract other than fee for service.

- Download the deferment form or request it from the office
- Fill it out
- Return it to the student office at Melbourne Institute of Nails & beauty or e mail it to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Do not forget to attach copy of the relevant Document
- Pay the residual fees
- By cheque to Melbourne Institute of Nails & Beauty
- At the post office by ordering a money order in favor of Melbourne Institute of Nails & Beauty
- By credit card, insert the details of the credit card in the deferment form or call the Institute to process the transaction
What happen once you have lodged the application?
Melbourne Institute of Nails & beauty will send you a letter that will confirm your deferment and the date of your return.
You must call the Institute before your return.
Upon your return you have no fee to pay.
What if I cannot pay the fee in full?
In this case the policy for hardship applies. You have to prove to be in a situation of hardship and a payment plan will be drawn for you. Download the form for hardship application.
