You can study hairdressing or beauty as part of a VET program. The purpose behind the VET training programs in hairdressing and beauty are to encourage you if you are likely to leave school at the completion of Year 10 without your VCE, to continue your schooling, while at the same time, begin your career in hairdressing or beauty.
If your're wishing to pursue this option, you should enroll in VCE subjects that are relevant to either the hairdressing or beauty industries and become involved in the transition from school to employment. In addition, you will attend Melbourne Institute of Nails & Beauty one day a week for 46 weeks of the year for a period of two years (during Years 11 and 12).
You can then complete your qualification full time at Melbourne Institute of Nails & Beauty during the third year for a period of approximately six to nine months, depending on your final qualification choice.
It is possible for you to commence this program at the start of Year 12 and only complete one year of the VET program prior to transferring to the full time course.
There is no ENTER score for this program.
Melbourne Institute can offer all the program under this arrangement. However, only the following qualification can be completed within the two years time frame.

What's next?
It depends on your choice:
- If you want to participate in one of our courses while still at school we must draw a plan specifically designed for you in a way that does not clash with your school activities. Then we will forward your result to your school and you will be receiving credits with the Bulk methods. If your are doing VCAL you will receive credits on the basis of your attendance while if you are doing VCE you will receive credits on the basis of your results.
- If you want to participate to one of our program while your are still studying your VCE or VCAL and during school hours you will need to contact your career Educator at your School. In this case we have to enter into an agreement-plan with the school to organize your participation to our activities during school hours. It is absolutely necessary that we organize that in advance. Please talk to us about this.
- Other option depends on different pathways such as an apprenticeship. Please click here for more information on apprenticeship
